If you’ve missed out on a copy of the Scream & Misty Halloween Special 2017 – the first, we hope, of many such items from 2000AD publisher Rebellion (and the word is, there will be more!) – then there’s still plenty of ways to lay your hands on copies.
Plenty of downthetubes readers have been trying to track copies down and Rebellion, comic shop owners and distributors have been more than happy to provide us with information on how to lay your hands on a copy of this much-sought after dip back into classic British comics, featuring strips from the short-lived boys comic Scream and the hugely-popular, long-running girls comic Misty.
The creators who worked on this project told downthetubes that their stories should be written in a way that gave both a taste of some cracking characters and stories, but also left the door open for further stories. We’ve already heard the Rebellion team are scouting around for stories for their next Special, such is its success, which is great news.

Scream & Misty Halloween Special 2017 Variant Cover by Glenn Fabry and Adam Brown
How to grab a copy before they’re gone…
Two of Britain’s best-loved supernatural comics have been resurrected this Halloween and merged into one terrifying tome featuring all-new stories!
Max the crazy computer makes a welcome return in “The Thirteenth Floor” by Guy Adams, John Stokes and Frazer Irving; the fangs are out in “The Dracula File” by Grainne McEntee and Tristan Jones; weirdos, warriors and weasels plucked from the pages of various 1970s and 80s British comics congregate in “Death-Man: The Gathering” by Henry Flint; Kek-W and Simon Coleby collaborate on “Black Max”, the German World War One fighter pilot that’s descended from a race of bat-people; the high-rise horrors of Birdwood are back in “Return of the Sentinels” by Hannah Berry and Ben Willsher; and fairies can be frightening in “Fate of the Fairy Hunter” by Alec Worley and DaNi.

• The Special is available digitally from 2000AD direct (Scream and Misty t-shirts on sale there, too!)
• If you’re having trouble finding it in local newsagents try eBay: but be warned, prices are getting silly!
If you’ve already got your hands on a copy and are thirsty for more Misty tales, then you’ll be wanting to get your hands on the second Misty collection – on sale in just two weeks time!
This collection features “The Sentinels“, which centres on the two identical tower blocks featured in the Special, which stand tall over the town of Birdwood. Only one is occupied while the other remains mysteriously empty. When Jan Richards’ family lose their home they decide to hide out in the abandoned block so they can stay together, only to be sent into a parallel world where the Nazis conquered Britain in 1940.
In “End of the Line“, Ann’s father was one of a group of engineers believed to have been killed whilst working on an extension to the London Underground. But when she and her mother are invited to the opening of the new train tunnel, Ann discovers a mysterious time portal through which several workers are being kept as slaves by an evil Victorian called Lord Vicary…
• Misty Volume Two is on sale in all good comic and book shops from 16th November 2017
