Get ready to celebrate National Illustration Day!

National Illustration Day - Friday 29th November 2024

National Illustration Day, organised by the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, takes place this Friday, 29th November – a chance for everyone in the UK to celebrate the pictures that are part of our lives and the brilliant people who make them.

Join in with the National Illustration Day social media campaign on the day, by sharing a beloved illustration, an illustration you use every day or an example of your own work, tagging @qbcentre and using the hashtag #NationalIllustrationDay2024.

Tag @qbcentre on socials with #NationalIllustrationDay2024 so they can share your celebrations! You can also email the Centre at communications@qbcentre.org.uk.

Last year, #NationalIllustrationDay was trending aplenty, with people sharing useful, inspiring and much-loved illustrations on social media.

“Illustration is everywhere,” note the team at the Quentin Blake Centre, “in picture books and graphic novels, on posters and signage, and embedded in videogames and apps. Whether you’re an illustrator, a school, a library or a bookshop, there are lots of ways that you can celebrate illustration.

The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration (formerly House of Illustration) has been on a long road to opening their permanent space in Clerkenwell, not to far from where they were in King’s Cross, London. But we’re pleased to report that they have just started construction works and plan to be in and open in spring 2026 – and their first exhibition, curated by Paul Gravett, will be comic related.
