It’s your last chance to take home one of Quentin Blake‘s “Four-Legged and Feathered Friends” artworks, in a fundraiser for the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, the UK’s only charity dedicated to celebrating illustration.
The sale is open for bidding online at Bonhams and will close tomorrow Wednesday 9 October 2024, at midday.
“Four-Legged and Feathered Friends: A Fundraising Sale for the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration” comprises of 68 lots by the well-loved illustrator – a menagerie of cats, dogs, and monsters, looking for a friend to take them home. Proceeds from the sale will raise funds for the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, the UK’s only charity dedicated to celebrating illustration, which was founded by Quentin Blake in 2002.

The charity has just begun work on the restoration of the heritage site New River Head, an 18th and 19th century former waterworks in Clerkenwell, London, which will provide a home for a 40,000-work archive of Blake’s drawings, in addition to hosting an exciting schedule of workshops, exhibitions and events.
The auction is an amazing opportunity to own an original Quentin Blake illustration and support Quentin’s vision for a centre for illustration, so check out the catalogue here.
As well as browsing the auction catalogue, you can also learn more about how Quentin made this collection from the Centre’s Exhibitions Curator, Katie McCurrach, here.

Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration is the new name for House of Illustration. They are the UK’s only charity for illustration – the art we experience in our everyday lives. Its exhibitions and projects celebrate illustration, support illustrators and empower people of all ages to tell their stories.
Quentin Blake is an artist, author and illustrator who had his first illustration published in Punch magazine in 1949, when he was still at school. Since then, he has written and/or illustrated more than 500 books, been a teacher of illustrators and created murals for hospitals, galleries and community spaces. He still draws every day, and he is currently working on a new exhibition of large-scale portraits.
Quentin is the founder of the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration organisation and they work closely with him to share material from his 40,000 work archive at museums and galleries across the UK. The future Centre will become the home of the archive and a place where people of all ages can come to enjoy it.
