Several original science fiction-inspired paintings by Graham Bleathman are being offered on eBay, an artist perhaps best known for his Gerry Anderson work, here focused on Star Trek and other franchises.
The artworks are part of a collection Collectable Clearance are selling on behalf of a sci-fi collector
Graham tells us they were commissioned in the late 1990s by the late Rod Summers, for the covers of the Bristol Starfleet Registry magazine, con-book covers and paintings to simply hang in his house.
Bristol Star Fleet Registry was a British Star Trek and science fiction fan club, operating between 1983 – 2000, run by Rod Summers, Pete Wilson, Dave Uppington and Paul Rowe. The team created several zines featuring fiction, news, reviews, interviews, photos and more.
BSFR also supported the annual Nexus, a series of science fiction media conventions from 1995-2000.
All the artworks for sale are being offered as ‘Buy it Now’ items and are reasonably priced, given that three of them are quite large.
Graham doesn’t benefit from the sale himself, but has no problem with the paintings being sold on.
“I have to say it was quite nice to see them again, especially the Forbidden Planet piece, which wasn’t done for a publication.”
“I was paid for them and have no claim to them, [although] looking at the Forbidden Planet painting, I can’t help wishing I could have that one back… but I’m not spending £500 on my own artwork!”
Several Star Trek items are currently for sale, including an unidentified Star Trek comic artwork by Mike Collins, inked by Greg Adams.
