Hibernia Comics re-releases “Blazing Battle Action”, with some additional material

A very limited amount of the second edition of Blazing Battle Action is now available from Hibernia Comics, offering an extra feature about the new 2023 Battle Action mini series from Rebellion, the first issue of that in stores now.

The sixth in Hibernia’s acclaimed Comic Archive series, exploring comics history through interviews, articles and rare art, Blazing Battle Action contains a comprehensive history of the weekly comic, Battle by author and former editor of 2000AD, David Bishop, originally serialised in Judge Dredd Megazine.

Also included is David McDonald‘s history of the hugely popular, and divisive, “Action Force” stories that appeared in Battle, as well at its replacement, “Storm Force”.

Along with rare art, collectors checklist and and a new four-page overview of Rebellion’s new Battle Action comic, this is the ultimate Battle companion, and this limited edition is available to order here.

John Freeman

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.

He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
