Jim Alexander, Will Pickering signing at Forbidden Planet Glasgow

Comics writer and publisher Jim Alexander and artist Will Pickering are signing at Forbidden Planet Glasgow this Thursday.

Jim is a stalwart of DC, Marvel, 2000AD and many more and of course runs the Planet Jimbot independent comics publishing house. Two of his strips, “King’s Crown” and “Whisky in the Jar”, have been adapted for the TV series Metal Hurlant Chronicles shown on Syfy in the US.

He has written for DC (Batman 80-Page Giant, Birds of Prey), Marvel (Spectacular Spider-Man, Uncanny Origins) and Tokyopop (Star Trek Manga). Current writing credits include Savant ( for Dark Horse), “Calhab Justice” (Judge Dredd Megazine) and Penguins of Madagascar (Titan).

Jim by the way is also a gust at Preston Comic Con on Saturday 1st August along with Nick Brokenshire, Kate Brown, Lee Carter, Andy Diggle, Tom Foster, Antony Johnston, Dave Taylor and Andrew Wildman. Follow him on Twitter @JimPlanetjimbot

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Star Trek Explorer (previously known as Star Trek Magazine) and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War and “Dan Dare”. He’s the writer of "Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies" for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
