London Super Comic Convention adds Max Brooks, Andy Lanning, JK Woodward to guest line up

The London Super Comic Convention has announced Max Brooks, Jacen Burrows, Neil Edwards, Lee Garbett, Andy Lanning, Yanick Paquette, Jamie Tyndall, John Watson, JK Woodward, and Chrissie Zullo as the third wave of guests for the their 2014 event (15th – 16th March) at London’s ExCel Centre.

Previously announced gustes include Arthur Adams, Frank Cho, Ian Churchill, Katie Cook, Alan Davis, Mark Farmer, Adi Granov, Roger Langridge, John Layman, Tom Palmer, Dan Slott and Brian Wood were on the guest roster.

International cosplayer Yaya Han will be judging the inaugural London Super Cosplay Championship.

Max Brooks

Max Brooks

Max Brooks is the bestselling author of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks. He is widely considered to be one of the founders of the zombie renaissance and World War Z was recently adapted as a hit movie featuring Brad Pitt.

In 2010 Brooks wrote the IDW Comic Book Mini-Series G.I. Joe: Hearts & Minds and later The Extinction Parade (2011) for Avatar Press. Brooks is currently working on the graphic novel, The Harlem Hellfighters that will be released by Broadway Books in April 2014.

Jacen Burrows

Jacen Burrows

Jacen Burrows is a comic book artist renowned for his work on Crossed, written by Garth Ennis and Neonomiccon, written by Alan Moore. Graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 1996, Burrows has worked for several Comic book publishers and some of the best writers in the industry.

Burrows is currently under contract for Avatar Press illustrating graphic novels written by some of the best in the business, including Warren Ellis’s (Scars, Bad World and Dark Blue), Alan Moore’s (Magic Words Courtyard and Yuggoth Cultures and Other Growths) and Garth Ennis’s (303 and Chronicles of Wormwood). Burrows is currently the cover artist of God is Dead (2013) and Crossed: Badlands.

Neil Edwards

Neil Edwards

Neil Edwards has worked for many Comic book publishers including DC, Markosia, 2000AD and Boom. However, he is primarily known for his work on Marvel titles such as Fantastic Four, Squadron Supreme, Captain America, Mighty Avengers, Herc and Dark Avengers. Currently he is doing pencils for the Peter David penned X-Factor, for Marvel and DC’s Forever Evil: A.R.G.U.S.

Lee Garbett

Lee Garbett

Lee Garbett is best known for his work on Grant Morrison’s Batman: RIP Last Rites and Return of Bruce Wayne, along with DC’s acclaimed re-launch of Batgirl.

Working mostly for DC he has penciled some of the biggest characters and titles in the business, including Amazing Spider-Man, Batman & Robin, Justice League Dark, Ghost Rider, Fear Itself, Judge Dredd, Angel and Faith and Ultimate X-Men.

Over the past year Lee has been the regular artist on Valiant’s X-O Manowar as well designing costumes for the forthcoming X-Men Days of Future Past movie. He is currently working with Al Ewing on the forthcoming Marvel NOW series Loki: Agent of Asgard due to be released in February 2014.

Andy Lanning

Andy Lanning

• A comic book writer, artist and inker best known for his collaborations with fellow writer Dan Abnett as well as artist Phil Jimenez, Andy Lanning  has written a variety of titles along with Dan, including Superman/Batman, Legion of Superheroes, Mr Majestic, The Authority, Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy, Punisher, New Mutants, Resurrection Man and their acclaimed cosmic titles, Annihilation: Conquest, War of Kings, Realm of Kings and The Thanos imperative.

Andy is working on a number of hush hush secret projects, but has co-written the Marvel UK revival series Revolutionary War with Alan Coswill, launching in January 2014.

Yanick Paquette

Yanick Paquette

Yanick Paquette is a Canadian comic book artist who has worked for a number of publishers including Marvel, DC and Topps Comics. Among the titles Yanick has worked on are Space: Above and Beyond, Wonder Woman, Adventures of Superman, Gambit, Codename Knockout, Gen13, Seven Soldiers: Bulleteer, Civil War: X-Men, Ultimate X-Men, Young X-Men, Batman Incorporated and Swamp Thing. Yanick is currently illustrating the soon-to-be-released Wonder Woman: The Trial of Diana Prince written by Grant Morrison.

Jamie Tyndall

Jamie Tyndall

Jamie Tyndall is a Canadian comic book artist best known for his depictions of sexy, strong female characters. He is a penciler, inker and sometimes colourist. Jamie is fairly new to comics, but has already made an impression with his covers for Zenescope Entertainment and commissions for private collectors. Jamie is also known for his parody covers of comic heroines adorning mainstream magazines such as Muscle & Fitness, Sports Illustrated, Empire, Rolling Stone and Maxim. Jamie Tyndall’s cover work has included Grimm Fairy Tales, Hit List, Robyn Hood and Notti and Nyce.

John Watson

John Watson

John Watson is a British comic book artist best known for his stunning painted covers. John began his career as an intern at DC comics in the 1990s, and went on to produce acclaimed cover runs for DC, Marvel and Dynamite including Uncanny X-Men, Hawkman, Son of M, Silent War, World War Hulk, Civil War: Frontline and Marvel Apes. John has most recently done the cover art for Dynamite entertainment’s comic adaptation to Stargate SG1 and interiors to John Bambers Myth-takes.

jk-woodwardJK Woodward  is a comic Book artist best known for his work on Peter David’s Fallen Angel (2008) and Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who Assimilation 2 (2012).

J.K. has worked on a number of titles most noticeably CSI:NY – Bloody Murder, G.I. Joe Cobra and Star Trek: The Last Generation for IDW, Eureka, POE & Zombie Tales for Boom! Studios and X-Men Origins: The Beast (2008) for Marvel.

He is currently working on the Horror title Omerta: Gods and Gangsters, written by Tony Lee, a project called Dragon Precinct, more Fallen Angel with Peter David and 2 as yet unannounced projects. It sounds like JK has a busy year ahead.

Chrissie Zullo

Chrissie Zullo

Chrissie Zullo is a freelance illustrator who has worked for DC Comics, Dark Horse, IDW, Devil’s Due, Topps, Archie and Harper Collins. Her most notable works are probably her distinctive covers for Vertigo’s Cinderella: From Fablestown and Fables Are Forever. Other notable titles are Madame Xanadu, Hack/Slash, Fables, Womanthology, Creepy and New Crusaders. She currently lives with her cat, drinks too many cups of tea and has an obsession with Yetis.

With over 300 tables of Publishers, Creators and Exhibitors travelling from all over America, Europe and the UK, the London Super Comic Convention looks set to be one of the UK’s biggest and most exciting comic conventions.
