New Gerry Anderson UFO Collection released ahead of second SHADO Con

UFO DVD Collection 2018 (ITV)

Ahead of the second SHADO Con dedicated to Gerry Anderson’s alien invaders series, ITV have quietly released a new complete UFO DVD sporting new cover artwork.

The series – Anderson’s first ongoing live action TV show – was previously available only in two separate volumes on DVD or as one volume on Blu-ray.

The new set features all 26 episodes of the show which sadly failed to gain the traction it needed in the US soon enough to assure a second season. Both the series concept and aliens were explored more fully in Countdown and TV Action comic, to the point that I often wonder if the editorial team were given access to the show’s unrealised future plans.

A double page spread from the UFO story “The Snatch”, drawn by Gerry Haylock, from Countdown Issue 32 Cover dated 25th September 1971. Artists on the UFO strip also included Brian Lewis.

The UFO-inspired SHADO CON 2 event will take place on Saturday 30th June 2018 in the QUAD in Derby. Reuniting cast and crew from the show, expect a day packed with panels, Q&As, signings, screenings, models and more.
