Freddie the Fix by Garth Ennis and artist Mike Perkins, the first project from Ninth Circle, a new comic book publisher focused on the horror genre, is on sale this week in all good comic shops.
“There’s no waiting around for the trade paperback collection with this one,” Mike enthuses. “This is the collection!! A perfectly formed one shot – dead on target! Go and pick up, or order, the substantial physical copy from your local comic shop (it does actually feel kind of silky!)”
A twisted horror tale, it’s the standalone story of a Hollywood fixer tasked to cover up the various crimes and misdeeds of horror icons – werewolves, vampires, zombies, aliens, bogeymen, predators, and… things. They all have their kinks, and they all get in deep shit. They all call Freddie… to fix it.
The horror-skewed intersection of The Boys and Ray Donovan, Freddie the Fix, available from all good comic shops and as a digital edition, is the debut offering from Ninth Circle, the creator-owned, creator-driven, horror showcase of standalone bone-chilling tales of terror and mayhem.
The print edition one-shot is a perfect bound, magazine trim size (8.5 x 10.875) and features a card stock cover.
Ninth Circle, co-founders also include writers Marguerite Bennett (DC’s Bombshells), Joe Pruett (Negative Burn) and Ram V (The Many Deaths of Laila Starr), and launches as an imprint of Image Comics. Also leading the team are Michael Bogner, from the Hollywood-based independent entertainment company, ABGO, and TFC Management’s David Stone.
Ninth Circle’s lead investor Kimberly Steward (Manchester By The Sea, Suspiria), and her K Period Media production company will partner with Ninth Circle to produce select titles.
“I’ve always been a big horror fan.” says Garth. “With Freddie the Fix, I hope to shock, thrill, and entertain our fans (and maybe give them a laugh or two along the way).”
Speaking to Screen Rant in November, Ennis told Robert Wood how the idea for Ninth Circle came from Joe Pruett during COVID. “It’s taken some time to pull it all together, get the right people and so on, but we’re finally ready to go.”
Garth feels Freddie the Fix is ideal debut for Ninth Circle, thanks to its “simple high concept, hits you right between the eyes. And killer artwork by Mike Perkins.”
“I approach each and every job with the sole intention of doing the best job I can – this is certainly no exception,” says Mike. “Every job is a joy and this one was massively enjoyable. I’m sure the readers will love it too!”
