A Winter Special edition of GetMyComics new all-ages comic SHIFT IT!, is on sale next week in newsagents across the UK, raising funds for Evelina London Children’s Hospital – and comes ahead of the launch of a regular title in 2025.
“It’s an all ages sister title to our main SHIFT anthology,” publisher Adrian Clarke explains. “I’d like to think it has some of the spirit of the comics we read in the Marvel UK days.”
Printing this new comic didn’t come cheap, so the GetMyComics team are hoping to offset some of the cost with the sale of a piece of original Marvel UK art by Liam Sharp and Andy Lanning, featuring Death’s Head II – first used as the cover of Death’s Head II Volume 2 #14, published back in November 1993.
“We ended up printing a lot of copies of SHIFT IT!, to fill a rather massive newsstand supply, and also to give lots to any kids staying in hospital,” Adrian explains, “so to help with the print cost, I’m parting with this rather beautiful Liam Sharp cover.”
Marvel UK art like this rarely comes to auction and bidding is already cranking up over on eBay.
The SHIFT IT! Winter Special is on sale from Friday 20th December in all good newsagents, featuring fantastic full colour stories: “Beast Hunting Battle Badgers”, “Privet Investigations”, “Learn to Speak Cat”, “Tara Togs”, “Robot City”, and “A Study in Scarlet”. (Check out our sneak peek here)
