The Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast took a trip out to Oldham Comic Con 2018 last weekend and landed plenty of conversations with some terrific comic creators.

“We had a great time and it really was a well ran event,” says co-host Ian Loxam.

“The podcast includes chats with Lee Overton and Pete Davis, John Slater and Mike West, Tazio Battin, Yasmin Sheikh, Sam Chapman, Dan Whitehead and Nigel from Mayamada.

“We also look at the new free comic Jack & Lucy by Rachael Smith and Jacob Phillips, which looks at two troubled teens trying to figure out their personal problems.”

Mantic Games - HellboyMike Williams also has a treat for listeners this episode and chats to Rob Burman from Mantic Games.

Mantic has created a board game based on the Hellboy comics and they’re currently trying to raise funds for it on Kickstarter. Mike talks to Rob about the Kickstarter, the game itself and of course Hellboy.

Pete Taylor also continues his profile series on comic artist and writer Jack Kirby, this time covering his career between 1966 and 1970,when he left Marvel for DC.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Star Trek Explorer (previously known as Star Trek Magazine) and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War and “Dan Dare”. He’s the writer of "Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies" for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
