Comedians Stewart Lee and Josie Long discuss their appreciation of the medium and forays into creating strips in Panel Borders: Comics on Comics this week.
Stewart Lee is an English stand-up comedian, writer and director who was one half of the radio duo Lee and Herring in the mid-1990s, alongside Richard Herring. He also co-wrote and co-directed the West End hit musical Jerry Springer: The Opera.
Alex Fitch converses with Lee, who talks about writing the story “The Property” for CLiNT Magazine and his love for Resonance FM.
Guest presenter Mark Hibbett talks to Josie Long about her comic Another Planet featured in The Guardian and the integration of cartoons into her stand-up routine, in front of an audience at Central St Martins.
Josie is a writer and a stand up comedian Who as well as enjoying traveling and performing, cares a lot about politics and social justice and sometimes run a thing called the Alternative Reality Tour.
The episode of the long-running comics show also includes a survey of the various comic book and genre titles on sale as part of this year’s Resonance FM fundraiser auction.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
