Propstore launches Doctor Who charity auction in aid of Children in Need

Doctor Who and Propstore are partnering on a charity auction to benefit BBC Children in Need. Over 150 Doctor Who-related lots are being offered in the catalogue, including costumes worn by the Doctors, companions, and others, as well as props featured on the show from 2005 to 2022.

One of the Eleventh Doctor's (Matt Smith) costumes from series 6 of Doctor Who. The Doctor wore his costume in episodes such as "Let's Kill Hitler" and "Closing Time", where he visited Craig (James Corden) whilst embarking on a 'farewell tour' of all of his friends, believing himself to only have one day left before he died.

The costume consists of a green trench coat with metallic buttons, a pair of black jeans (W36, L32) a blue button-up shirt, black lace-up boots and a red silk clip-on bow tie. The buttons on the coat feature a coat-of-arms-esque design on them, and the coat itself comes with a BBC costume label. The bow tie exhibits some thread-pulling.

The online auction is scheduled to run on 11th – 25th February 2025, with bidding starting at £100, and registration for the auction to bid is open now on Propstore’s website.

Costumes worn by the Doctor include the Tenth Doctor’s (played by David Tennant) tuxedo costume and spares, the Eleventh Doctor’s (Matt Smith) “Closing Time” costume, the Twelfth Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) “Mummy on the Orient Express” costume, and the Thirteenth Doctor’s (Jodie Whittaker) costume.

Costumes worn by companions and others include Rose Tyler’s (Billie Piper) top, Donna’s (Catherine Tate) wedding dress, Clara’s (Jenna Coleman) costume, The Master’s (John Simm) jacket, Me’s (Maisie Williams) costume, and C’s (Stephen Fry) costume.

Ashad's (Patrick O'Kane) costume from Doctor Who. Ashad was a partially Cyber-converted human, who came to be known as the Lone Cyberman, and played a key role in the re-ascension of the Cybermen in series 12 and 13.

The costume comprises a number of polyurethane armour pieces, including a helmet, two legs, a breastplate, a backplate, one bicep piece, one gauntlet, one pauldron, and one neck brace. Also included is a bodysuit with wire details and plastic sleeves, with metal cuffs on one sleeve, two gloves made of rubber latex, and a pair of boots. All the pieces have been painted to look like rusted metal. The breastplate, backplate, and gauntlet all illuminate with a blue light via the use of a remote control, also included in the lot, which controls how dim or bright the lights are. There are an additional four spare neck pieces, all made of foam latex, and spare wires and scrap material included, as well as two metal leg braces that were not ultimately included in the costume seen on screen. A number of costume labels are included, and the helmet is deliberately cracked and distressed.

Props include a screen-matched “An Adventure in Space and Time” TARDIS, a screen-matched Traitor Dalek, a photo-matched Gravel Cyberman head, a Weeping Angel statue, and an Ood head.

According to Propstore, this is expected to be the largest Doctor Who auction to date. The net proceeds are going to BBC Children in Need, which helps children throughout the United Kingdom.

“Propstore are thrilled to partner once again with BBC Children in Need,” the company says. “This collaboration offers fans an exclusive opportunity to own a piece of history from the iconic TV series Doctor Who whilst raising money for a great cause. Celebrated across the globe for 60 years, Doctor Who has captured the imaginations of millions with its time-travelling adventures, unforgettable characters, and beloved cast. Proceeds from the auction will go to helping to transform the lives of young people and empower communities across the UK.”
