Award-winning comic creator Rachael Smith is rightfully celebrating as her “Nap Comix” diary strip hits 200 episodes.
Rachael has been making regular diary comics about her son Henry, since July 2023. These scribbly, urgent, honest slices of life are usually captured quickly, whilst Henry is napping.
Detailing the highs and lows of parenthood (nursery settles, nappy changes, friendships, breastfeeding, illnesses, etc…), the comics have been heralded as Smith’s finest, most important work to date, and with the project
hitting 200 episodes, now is the perfect time to dive in.

Rachael Smith is best known for making comics that deal with mental health issues with warm, relatable humour, such as Wired Up Wrong, Quarantine Comix, and Isabella & Blodwen. She also wrote and drew the humour comics for Titan’s Doctor Who, Tenth Doctor comic series for three years.
She has gathered a huge number of followers of the strip already.
“Smith’s diary comics have been a wonderful mix of occasionally brutal observation and charming humour,” Dean Simons has observed.
“‘Nap Comix’ is something everyone should be reading for both wonderful feel good moments and insights into our human condition,” Comicon.com’s Richard Bruton noted in a round up of Best Web Comics of 2023, “and is definitely recommended for every new parent to get a realistic, warts-and-all view on how wonderful and difficult this whole new child thing can be.”
She has created work for The New Yorker, Image, Boom! Studios, and Mad Cave, among others, and recent work includes the successfully crowdfunded graphic novel, the comedy cryptozoological whodunnit Who Killed Nessie?, created with Paul Cornell.
