When 99 per cent of humankind is wiped out by a pandemic, four billion people are “saved” by being digitized at the brink of death and uploaded into Arcadia, a utopian simulation in the cloud. But when Arcadia begins to rapidly deplete the energy resources upon which the handful of survivors in the real world (a.k.a. “The Meat”) depends, how long will The Meat be able – and willing – to help?
Arcadia #1 by British writer Alex Paknadel, drawn by Eric Scott Pfeifer with covers by Matt Taylor, lettered by Colin Bell, debuts in comic shops on 13th May 2015 and is commanding a lot of comic press attention. Based in Lancaster, England, Alex is a relatively new writer to the comics scene – and you can read an interview with him by Matt Badham later today on downthetubes.
Artist Eric Scott Pfeiffer is currently based in Richmond, Virginia. Some of his clients include ESPN the magazine, Boom! Studios, Popular Mechanics, The New Republic and The Red Cross. He’s also the creator behind Kid Havoc.
Matt Taylor is an illustrator and comic artist based in the Sussex countryside who spends his days crafting expansive, sometimes psychedelic, Americana inspired illustrations with a nod to classic comic book art of the 1950s and 1960s. He released Great Salt Lake a highly-acclaimed one shot at Thought Bubble 2014.
