Sonic the Comic Remembered, 32 Years On

There’s a lot of love out there for Fleetway’s Sonic the Comic, launched 32 years ago this week, and it’s good to know there are dedicated fans still celebrating the title.

Marking the anniversary Sonic the Comic‘s 32nd birthday, the Kintobor Computer database/repository cataloguing the Sonic the Hedgehog multiverse has updated with twenty six new reviews, covering every Sonic and Tails adventure from the comic’s first year.

Launched in 1993, Sonic the Comic was an anthology comic that initially featured Sonic in the lead strip and a revolving cast of Sega Superstars in the back-ups. Before long, however, the Sonic-focused content grew to surpass anything else until, eventually, the Sega Superstars were phased out to give more page space to strips which highlighted Sonic’s friends and foes, primarily Tails, Knuckles and Amy.

Fans of the comic will be delighted to hear the site now features four of original Sonic writer Nigel Kitching‘s pitch documents, detailing his ideas and concepts for some of the comic’s biggest moments.

Along with a new Sonic the Comic Zone archive section, fan dedication to the title continues with a not for profit tale “Sonic the Comic: All Good Things…”, a story picking up after issue 281 of Sonic the Comic Online that will take the comic up to a conclusion at issue 300.

The Kintobor Computer, which is not affiliated with Sega in any way, aims to be a complete repository of all things Sonic the Hedgehog. From the games to the comics to the cartoons and beyond, our goal is to chronicle it all. Check it out now!
