I’m delighted to report that downthetubes is recipient of “Best Comics Media” in the inaugural ComicsScene Magazine Awards, announced today in the digital edition of ComicScene Magazine Issue 11, on sale digitally now, a week ahead of its print release.
Thank you to everyone who nominated and then voted for the site, everyone who reads our items and the entire team who contribute to these pages. I’m honoured – and it makes for a smashing early Christmas present, too!
downthetubes contributor Colin Noble also won the magazine’s award for “Best Comics Fan”, beating the Awesome Comic Podcast’s Tony Esmond to the top spot.
Other winners in the largely British-focused awards included Lew Stringer, for Best Indie/Small Press Comic, Rebellion for Best Publisher and John Wagner and Dan Cornwell won in the “Best Crowdfunding Campain” for their upcoming graphic novel Rok the God.
ComicScene readers nominated their favourites through the magazine’s social media channels, which were then were whittled down to the final vote. Editor and publisher Tony Foster tells us some 30,000 voted, with some very active campaigning going on to get support for the comics and creators.
“This led to some surprises and we are pleased to announce the final winners and runners,” he says in the new issue.
“Well done to everyone who was nominated – there was some great work out there during 2019 and Richard Bruton takes a closer look in his Review of 2019. Thank you to everyone who nominated, voted and promoted great comics.”
Congratulations, too, from all of us to everyone else who won.
You can see who else won in in Issue 11, out now as a digital edition. You’ll also be supporting the magazine into 2020 and it may give you some great comic Christmas ideas!
• The digital edition of ComicScene Magazine Volume 2 Issue 11 is only £2.99 (approx $3.95) for 80 pages to read on your mobile, tablet, laptop or desktop anywhere in the world!
