Jens K Styve is the creator of the award-winning strip “Dunce“, a Norwegian author and cartoonist, listed by Comic Book Resources as “one of the most unique modern comic book artists right now”, and described “a tremendous talent.”
Based in Tromsø, he’s published two novels and a substantial number of comic books and is just one of the many talented creators at Thought Bubble Festival in Harrogate this weekend.
Jens’ multiple award-winning comic strip, “Dunce“, described by World Book Review as “an alternative universe, where Calvin has grown up and moved to Norway.” The strip has been published daily since January 2017, and is featured in a range of newspapers in Scandinavia, and is also available in book collections in Norwegian, French, Spanish and now, English.
The English language collection, Dunce: Arctic Tails was released earlier this year, pitched as “not just a comic; it’s a journey into the heart of the everyday, mixed with the unique whimsy of life in one of the world’s most northern cities.”
“Dunce – Arctic Tails is a visit to the frosty landscapes of the arctic, with a cast of characters that I hope will become your friends,” says Jens. “This has been a labor of love that I’ve been yearning to present to a global audience.”
Dunce: Ungrounded, the second collection, is also heading to Amazon soon.
In this first English collection of Dunce, we follow the quirky adventures of Brego, Jens K, and Gustav. Brego finds himself entangled in the complexities of a troublesome relationship, Jens K vanishes beneath a table, and Gustav ambitiously sets out to single-handedly save the rainforests.
A must-read for enthusiasts of classic comics like Peanuts and Calvin & Hobbes, this book blends everyday life with delightful absurdity, all depicted through Styve’s captivating artwork.
Join Gustav, Brego and Jens on a journey where humour and humanity meet under the Northern Lights…
