The winners of the Tripwire Awards 2020 have been announced, first conceived to celebrate the best in UK and US comics over the past twelve months.
Voted for by the members of the public around the world, the awards were originally scheduled to take place this year at Portsmouth Comic Con. But when that show was put back to 2021, the team thought people would like something to cheer them up in this strange time…
So, last night, Tripwire magazine’s editor-in-chief Joel Meadows and contributing writer and head honcho of The Convention Collective Leonard Sultana presented the awards for 2020 on the title’s YouTube channel.
The awards 2020 nominations were gathered together by Tripwire’s editor-in-chief Joel Meadows, Comicon.com’s senior editor Olly Macnamee, Mass Movement’s Tim Cundle and The Convention Collective’s Leonard Sultana.
“Despite the fact that we couldn’t do a physical ceremony, we felt that we had to do something to announce these awards to the comics community,” Tripwire editor-in-chief Joel Meadows said.
“And so many people from our community have stepped up to give us their acceptance speeches via video. Comics creators and publishers are always keen to support each other and we have been very gratified by what we have received.”
Our congratulations to all the winners – downthetubes was honoured to be nominated in the category of “Best Comics-Related Website” this year.
