Created out of the 2D Collective, a group of creators who got together through Derry’s now sadly defunct 2D Comics Festival, Uproar have made a name for themselves in Northern Ireland with the ongoing title Zombies Hi telling how a zombie apocalypse affects the residents of the Province’s second city which is available in many NI bookshops as well as comic shops. At conventions Uproar are known for offering zombified portraits of attendees and we would expect Thought Bubble to be no different.
Set up as a multimedia company, Uproar offer promotional and educational comics, storyboards, web development, interactive apps and workshops in addition to Zombies Hi and a range of one-shot comics including The Ballad of Half Hanged McNaghten and Amelia Earhart: First Lady Of Aviation, they have two ongoing series just beginning with the mythological Gifted and the steam-punk Conundrum.
Their science fiction title is Leap, an ongoing series set on a starship in deep space, that utilises a wide range of Uproar’s creators for its mixed CG and hand drawn panels for its A4 size print version as well its motion comic. We reviewed issue zero of Leap here on downthetubes and the recently released issue 1 looks just as interesting.
Uproar will be at Thought Bubble in Leeds over the weekend of 15-16 November 2014 where their sales table will be in the TB Teepee marquee.
