2000AD Prog 2055 is on sale today in all good newsagents and comic shops, offering a smorgasbord of thrills, complemented by another stunning “Slaine” cover from Simon Davis.
My favourite story this issue is the latest episode of “Absalom” – the art on this by Tiernan Trevallion is perfectly suited to the story. Great to see PJ Holden on “Judge Dredd”, too – it’s very much a set up episode, but sparks are soon going to fly in the Russian wastelands..
In this Prog…
JUDGE DREDD: BLACK SNOWS
by Michael Carroll (Writer) PJ Holden (Artist) Quinton Winter (Colourist) Annie Parkhouse (Letterer)
Trouble for Dredd is bubbling to the surface, when mystery terrorists raid an ore processing plant in Northern Siberia…
INDIGO PRIME: A DYING ART
by Kek-W (Writer) Lee Carter (Artist) Simon Bowland (Letterer)
The multiverse. There are an infinite number of parallel realities, and all need managing in case of dimensional instability. This is where INDIGO PRIME comes in, the multiverse’s troubleshooters, whose agents — recruited post-death — are trained to deal with space/time catastrophes. Now, IP’s Imagineers have been sent into psychic shock following the Christhulhu event, and a team have entered their heads to save them…
SLÁINE: ARCHON
by Pat Mills (Writer) Simon Davis (Artist) Ellie De Ville (Letterer)
Albion. Celtic warrior SLÁINE united the tribes of the Earth Goddess and became the first High King of Ireland, but is now a wanderer. Having journeyed to Monadh to rescue Sinead from the Drune Lords, he’s discovered that they have been experimenting on their own creations, much to the displeasure of the Cyths’ jailer, the Archon Yaldabaoth. Now, having escaped the island, Sláine wants to learn the truth behind his parentage…
SINISTER DEXTER: AZTEC CAMERADERIE
by Dan Abnett (Writer) Steve Yeowell (Artist) John Charles (Colourist) Annie Parkhouse (Letterer)
Gun-sharks Finnigan SINISTER and Ramone DEXTER are the best hitmen money can buy in the future city of Downlode. Having spent the last year offworld hunting for Holy Moses Tanenbaum, a ganglord from an alternate dimension whose presence threatened the fabric of reality, they’ve returned home, and are getting back to business. Now, their favourite restaurant Instant Korma is being threatened by huge franchise Chicken Itza..
ABSALOM: TERMINAL DIAGNOSIS
by Gordon Rennie (Writer) Tiernan Trevallion (Artist) Ellie De Ville (Letterer)
UK, 2017. Inspector Harry ABSALOM is an old-school copper — curmudgeonly anti- authoritarian, he’s been with the force for over forty years. Suffering from cancer, he’s the head of a special squad that enforces The Accord, a diplomatic treaty made in the 16th century between the throne of England and the powers of Hell. Now, he’s preparing to enter The Mills, a demon stronghold, to rescue his grandchildren…

Set in an oppressive future where humans ridge roughshod over any and all alien life, Nemesis the Warlock rises up to take on the evil Torquemada, and Pat Mills gets to write one of the best allegories about the Catholic Church and the Inquisition, ever.
Kevin O’Neill’s art suits this story perfectly, though later you’ll see how Pat adapts the stories to play to the strengths of other great artists such as Bryan Talbot, Smuzz (then SMS) and Simon Bisley.
“Nemesis” is a gem of a 2000AD saga… find out where it all began!
