Orbital Comics Marks “Fables” end with Mark Buckingham Guided Tour

Mark Buckingham Guided Tour

As we near the end of Mark Buckingham‘s epic run on DC Comics’s Vertigo Fables with Issue 150, London’s Orbital Comics is presenting a retrospective of the artist’s work, featuring a variety of different pieces from throughout the years.

The exhibition opens on Saturday 4th July at 7.00pm. Not only will Mark be there for a drinks reception, but he’ll also be giving his fans a guided tour of the exhibition followed by a brief Q&A.

Don’t miss the opportunity to see the work of a ‘modern master’ and learn more about his process.

Fables launched in 2002. Written by Bill Willingham, the series deals with various people from fairy tales and folklore – referring to themselves as “Fables” – who have been forced out of their Homelands by “The Adversary” who has conquered the realm. Travelling to our world, they’ve formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown.

The series ends with Issue 150, on sale at the end of July, with a lead feature written by Bill, drawn by Mark and inked by Andrew Pepoy, Steve Leialoha, Dan Green, and Jose Marzan Jr., plus back up strips.

Mark is of course now busy working on Miracleman, completing the story he and Neil Gaiman began some 25 years ago. Neil and Mark have been reunited with series colourist D’Israeli and award-winning letterer Todd Klein for the second Miracleman series from Marvel, which launches with a new #1 on 2nd September, initially reprinting the original stories first published by Eclipse, remastered directly from the original artwork. The new series will include extensive additional content including scripts, original art, sketches, rare promotional pieces — and more.

“That Neil and Bucky can finally finish the story they started, is a great relief to still-gasping fans — myself among them,” says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso.
