The Bad Bad Place - SNIP

Soaring Penguin collects “The Bad Bad Place” by David Hine and Mark Stafford

Coming soon from Soaring Penguin Press is a collection of The Bad Bad Place by David Hine and Mark Stafford, first serialised in Meanwhile…,  the British publisher’s anthology title, beginning in 2014.

The Bad Bad Place - Cover

It seems that Faraway Hills, the modern community built on the site of the far, far older Crouch Heath, did not satisfy all the needs of the community. When the Castavette Estate reappeared on the edge of town, years after it had been demolished, those needs, those urges, those cravings were satisfied. But at what price?

A madman, the town’s former Town Crier, reveals, story by story, the various individuals that disappeared into a mysterious sprawling Victorian manor at the border of the town.

David Hine and Mark Stafford are the team responsible for The Man Who Laughs and Lip Hook, and deliver a tale of Urban Unease, a horror tale of dreams turned dark, and a mother’s soul blackened with revenge…

Mark has remastered many of the pages of the strip for this new collection, which will get a big push at Thought Bubble Festival at its new location in Harrogate in November. Both David and Mark will be at the Soaring Penguin table at the event.

Mark will also be at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival next month to launch a print edition of his comic Kangkangee Blues and supporting the Cartoon Museum, and is also a guest of Malta Comic Con in November.

David Hine is currently working on The Marked for Image Comics with artist Brian Haberlin, which launched next month.
