Some down time and the frantic run up to the brilliant Malta Comic Con mean I’ve gotten behind on some regular plugs, including those for the Awesome Comics Podcast from Vince Hunt, Dan Butcher and Tony Esmond – so let’s remedy that right now!
Episode 22 features creators Gavin Mitchell and Emily Owen – comic lovers, creators and riotous characters in their own right. Vince and Tony (Dan couldn’t make this one) talk about their creation Pup and Grumpicorn, Gavin’s work on Stiffs, The Pride and the upcoming Trolltooth Wars and Out to Sea – and how they work on their comics. There’s also plenty of creative comic chat and ridiculous humour, Emily continues her quest to beat the ACP hosts into shape, Vince attempts to keep things on the rails and Tony keeps calling Vince the wrong name.
Not only that, but we’ve also got another extra bonus as Tony interviews Jessica Martin, creator behind the books It Girl and Elsie Harris Picture Palace about her work.
It’s another bumper episode of comics goodness, so listen to it now!
Mentioned in this episode are: Gavin Mitchell, Emily Owen, Pup and Grumpicorn, Stiffs, The Pride, Santa Claus vs the Nazis, Samurai Slasher, The Trolltooth Wars, Out to Sea, Porcelain: Bone China, Improper Books, Mulp: Sceptre of the Sun, Sara Dunkerton, Apocalyptigirl, Dungeon Fun, Jim Bampfield, Steve Jackson, Jen Rhyssa, Jessica Martin, Elsie Harris Picture Palace, Alex Robinson, Our Expanding Universe, Naniiebim, Naniiebim Art Site, Mephistos, the Doc Dino Kickstarter, Druid Investigations Kickstarter, The Motherless Oven and Vanguard
After a couple of Dan-less weeks, the three amigos are back together and are joined for Episode 23 by Chunks creator and comedy-fuelled writer Matt Garvey. Not only does Matt want to give his comics away to anyone that will ask him, but he lets us know more about the creation of Chunks, pitching to publishing companies, his inspirations and his upcoming projects.
The gang also discuss comic book stores and what makes a good/bad one, recommend some more great books you should check out. Plus, Tony grumbles about Funko Pop toys, Dan’s ongoing quest to read dark and depressing books continues and Vince gets picked on mercilessly by a guest… again.
It’s another over the top chattiest full of grown ups using rude words and acting like children. Don’t miss it!
Mentioned in this episode are: Matt Garvey, Chunks, Orbital Comics, Dirty Rotten Comics, No Hero, West: Justice, Angry Candy Comics, Deer Editor, Heliosphere, the Heliosphere Kickstarter, Life Signs, Turncoat Press, Rumble, Vanguard, and Vince;’s own comics project, The Red Mask From Mars.
