Panini have released the final cover art for Cybermen: The Ultimate Comic Strip Collection by Anthony Lamb, the new Doctor Who omnibus collection due for release on 1st September 2023.
And, good news – if you order your copy of this new collection from Panini direct, you’ll receive an exclusive, limited edition art print of Anthony Lamb’s stunning cover artwork. (Available while stocks last).
Panini tells us that if this this promotion is successful, they might start doing the same thing for other up-coming Doctor Who books.
Utilising models owned by Gav Rymill, Anthony has produced a stunning image, the futuristic Cybermen from the Eighth Doctor comic strip story, “The Flood” to 3D life.
Written by Scott Gray with art by Martin Gergahty, “The Flood” was the last regular Eight Doctor story to feature in Doctor Who Magazine, It saw the reappearance of the Cybermen in the strip, in a very sleek, futuristic form, as well as several other people from the strip’s history.
The image also features Kroton, the Cyberman with a soul, from early back up strips in Doctor Who Weekly, and the Cybership designed by Doctor Who storyboard artist and comics veteran Mike Collins, created for the Seventh Doctor story, “The Good Soldier”, which was written by then TV series script editor Andrew Cartmel.
Anthony has also shared some “work in progress” images for the cover, on Twitter.
“Humanoids who rejected the weakness of flesh and blood millennia ago, the Cybermen are deadly armoured warriors driven by cold logic!” cautions the promotional copy for the upcoming 380-page collection. “Across the stars, they have waged cyber-war on a thousand worlds, eager for more organic beings they can convert into obedient soldiers of the Cyber-Empire! Inside this epic collection, you can discover all of the Doctor’s incredible encounters with this unrelenting foe, taken from the pages of Doctor Who Magazine.”
Doctor Who comics archivist Paul Scoones has written new commentaries, covering the five stories featured.

Man, the original design of the cybermen is still great today – they should just tweak that vs any major overhaul
