This week the Awesome Comics Podcast gang – Dan Butcher, Tony Esmond and Vince Hunt – are talking about the work and creation of their anthology series Awesome Comics as Issue Four launches this weekend – and to help them do it, they’re joined by Tom Stewart from the brilliant podcast That Comic Smell.
Together, they discuss the journey of the book from concept to its final issue, collaborating as a group, reception at cons and so much more.
Awesome Comics began life with the launch of Issue One at the True Believers Festival last year (well, all right, technically it began life as the podcast) and it’s appropriate this awesome anthology reaches its epic conclusion with the launch of Issue Four at True Believers 2019 this Saturday (2nd February) in Cheltenham.
Pick up Issue Four and enjoy the epic conclusion to “Murder Road”, “Cockney Kung-Fu” and “Vyper”!
Also launching at the Festival is the terrific guide to creating comics from Fairspark Books – How to Make Comics with Springworth – by ACP co-host Tony Esmond and artist Andy Hanks.
(There are a host of other independent titles launching at the Festival too, including Circuside #3 by Graham Puttock, Cry Wolf by Sam Roads and Ben Matsuya and Dexter’s Half Dozen: The Stone Child by Jaime Lambert and David Clifford. There’s a full list here on the event’s web site).
There’s also some podcast chat, a discussion about the difficulty getting comics to kids in the high street and Vince and Dan talk their recent twitter feud!
Great stuff to check out this week: That Comic Smell, @ThatComicSmell, Awesome Comics, Nick Prolix, Daniel Marc Chant, Ed Traquino, Andy Bloor, the House Bound Kickstarter, Alfie Gallagher, The Fang, Revenant, Horde Comics, Portal Comics, Jonny Cannon, the Break the Cake anthology and its publisher David Robertson.
