It’s Commando‘s Ramsey’s Raiders as you’ve never seen them before! They’re fully-loaded, fully-coloured, and ready to rumble in their first-ever graphic novel – Ramsey’s Raiders Classic Stories.
For the first time in its 57-year history, Commando is re-presenting some of its original black‑and-white pocket‑sized stories with explosions of colour, presented in full‑sized graphic novel format.
Ramsey’s Raiders Classic Stories features the first two Ramsey’s Raiders stories, about a rag-tag team of maverick soldiers operating behind enemy lines, with a cracking cover from Ian Kennedy.
The collection’s release comes ahead of a new Raiders series in Commando, which will be published in January 2019.
First introduced in 2005, Ramsey’s Raiders are one of the few sets of Commando characters to make return appearances. The unconventional group of heroes were first thought up by then editor George Low, and have fought their way through over 20 adventures in the title, each scripted by Ferg Handley, their first story drawn by Keith Page.
Led by the roguish Captain James Ramsey, the Raiders are a motley bunch: two Scotsmen, an Englishman, a Welshman, an Irishman, and an Australian. They play by their own rules and are good at their job — very good — so the Germans have every reason to fear Ramsey’s Raiders!
When their jeeps are destroyed in German-held Sicily, the Raiders show the Nazis that a captured German staff car can make an equally effective — and deadly — form of transport!
This new collection is coloured by Phillip Vaughn and lettered by Robin Jones, who tells downthetubes it looks fabulous and is delighted to have worked on the project.
“They even let me add SFX!” he enthuses.
“It’s great to see my guys in colour format, looks really good ” enthuses Ferg Handley.
“I’m itching to get my hands on my comp copy!”
