Glasgow’s Aye Write! Book Festival has announced their March 2018 line-up. Their planned events include an appearance by graphic journalist Darryl Cunningham talking about Graphic Science, a cracking collection of stories about some often overlooked scientists last year.
Darryl Cunningham’s gorgeously illustrated Graphic Science gives a platform, a page and voice to seven humans who have been instrumental in their fields.
Science is filled with wondrous discoveries from great names – Newton, Darwin, Einstein – but what about the names you don’t know?
So much has been achieved in the greatest fields of discovery – physics, engineering, botany – by those whose names have been forgotten. Darryl Cunningham’s wonderful Graphic Science gives a platform, a page and voice to seven humans who have been instrumental in their fields, including Mary Anning, fossil hunter and palaeontologist and Nicola Tesla, inventor, electrical engineer and physicist.
Learn more about their lives about this event, their struggles and their greatest achievements.
Running 15th – 24th March 2018, among the other authors appearing at Aye Write! this year are a pre-festivals return to Glasgow for Ruby Wax before Sir Chris Bon ington, Peggy Seeger, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, Robert Peston, Maggie O’ Farrell, Val McDermid, Brett Anderson, Professor A.C. Grayling, Evan Davis, Shami Chakrabarti, Graeme Obree, Jo Swinson all discuss their latest work and Neil MacGregor, formerly director of the British Museum gives the Tannahill Lecture.
Composer Sir James MacMillan, Lawyer Aamer Anwar, Scotland’s Makar Jackie Kay and Dr Adele Patrick all discuss “The books that made me”. Also returning are Aye Tunes, Aye Con and Aye Write! Introduces.
