Slingsby Bros., Ink! have confirmed they are planning a second printing of their Carol Day Showcase, a snapshot of the acclaimed adventure strip created by David Wright for the Daily Mail, which quickly sold out.

Collectors often ask what makes the Carol Day comic strip, first published in the Daily Mail between 1956 and 1971, particularly the strips drawn by Wright until his untimely death in 1967, so special to a small group of fanatics.
For most fans, it’s David Wright’s art is the hook, and most collectors instantly recognise that this art and this artist are levels above what usually encountered in a comic strip. This quickly leads people to want to learn and see more. For Carol Day, this has been very difficult historically, as the strip hasn’t been significantly reprinted – and it never achieved wide circulation.

The Carol Day Showcase book presents, for the first time, the full range of Carol Day art, from Wright’s first story to his last, with examples from every story. Slingsby Bros., Ink!, who are also currently taking preorders for Last of the Line, their next Carol Day book, have gathered 136 outstanding Carol Day examples from across Wright’s run to display.
All are reproduced from the original art to present the flavour of the strip and the magnitude of Wright’s achievement.

As we previously reported, Last of the Line, the next full Carol Day Story Book collection, is only available by pre-order, and pre-orders end on Sunday 16th March 2025. The book is ready for the printer and all that remains is to set the print run – so head over to Book Palace now and preorder your copy!
David Wright’s Carol Day: Last of The Line is a companion volume to the large format books: David Wright’s Carol Day: Lance Hallam and David Wright’s Carol Day: Jack Slingsby. These stunning books each contain one complete Carol Day story reproduced from the original art in the original size.
