Here’s a version of The Beano‘s Dennis the Menace and Gnasher you probably never expected to see – and it may leave some purists seething. But not us!
Ace artist Mike Perkins – perhaps best known for his work on Marvel’s Deathlok and who’s working on a new comic for Boom! Studios – came up with this realistic take on The Beano‘s most famous miscreant.
We can just see this version thrown into a bizarre ‘What If?’ Styled story alongside Billy the Cat and General Jumbo…
Mike, whose next public appearance is at London Film and Con (17th – 19th July), is these days well known for his work for Marvel Comics having worked on Captain America, Thor and The X-Men – but he of course cut his teeth creating his own comics, and entered the world of professional comics with strips for 2000AD and Marvel UK.
After wrapping up the 31 issues adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand he transitioned into illustrating Astonishing X-Men and has now helped re-launched Deathlok.
He has been nominated numerous times for Eisner and Harvey Awards and, as well as winning the Eagle Award, counts being on the New York Times Bestseller list and being exhibited in Munich, London and Paris amongst his career achievements.
