Don’t Miss Out on Hibernia Comics new Comic Archive – The Editor’s Cut

Hibernia Comics have just published The Editor’s Cut, the latest book in their brilliant Comic Archive series – just in time for the independent publisher’s twentieth birthday. And it’s absolutely crammed with great material, as usual!

The seventh in the Hibernia Comics Comic Archive series, The Editors Cut is brim full of interviews, articles, and rare and unpublished art. Cover by Mick McMahon

Another fantastic exploration of British comics through interviews, articles and what Hibernia prides itself on, lots of rare and unpublished artwork, it’s available to order now from comicsy.co.uk.

“It’s hard to believe Doomlord was released this month twenty years ago,” says publisher David McDonald.

Confirming the team’s ability to bring us the rare, The Editor’s Cut comes with a knockout cover from 2000AD artist Mick McMahon, which had lain unpublished for nearly 40 years, and includes interviews with Mick himself, legendary editor Kelvin Gosnell, editor and puzzle king Roy Preston, and the late, great Brian Walker, who’s probably best known for his work on Sparky, for DC Thomson, and the Shiver and Shake strip, “Scream Inn”, for IPC, which was such a hit, it span off into a board game.

Also included is an article by Matt Bookman on much-missed artist Garry Leach, looking at his BBC work, writer Chris Lowder reminisces about his meetings with and the work of Solano Lopez, (which is timely, given the release of The Eternaut on Netflix) and there’s a piece on the late Kevin O’Neill, too, including some unpublished memories of working in Fleetway in the 1970s.

So, do you want to see Kevin O’Neill’s cover to a proposed 2000AD spin off called ‘Hyper Power’? Mick McMahon’s first published work in “It’s All Lies”? The article from London’s Evening Standard that prompted the creation of 2000AD? Solano Lopez’ unpublished try out for Star Wars comic? Rian Hughes and John Wagner’s “Professor Questertester”?
