Jump on board 2000AD with this week’s scrotnig Prog! (plus, new books coming soon)

This week’s 2000AD – Prog 2401, on sale now – is another “Jump-On Board” issue from the House of Tharg, with a knockout cover from Mark “The Out” Harrison promising just that… and delivering!

2000AD – Prog 2401 - Cover by Mark Harrison

In this issue, Judge Dredd seeks revenge for Maitland – but will he be allowed to get to the truth? Then, “The Out” returns for a new series as Cyd finds a new attitude (and job!); mysterious sects rule old New York in “Nightmare New York”; “Brink” continues its critically-acclaimed run; and Garth Ennis and Patrick Goddard return to Rogue Trooper for “When A G.I. Dies”.

It’s called The Galaxy’s Greatest for a reason folks, although, for longtime readers, this issue may bring some sadness, as “Nightmare New York” features the last work of legendary artist John M. Burns, whose ill health led him to retire, and, sadly, he died at the end of 2023. So, as Tharg says, it adds an extra potency to view the last pages of a comics master and appreciate his extraordinary talent.

Fiends of the Eastern Front Omnibus Volume 2

In 1970, Lieutenant Tim Wilson is haunted by the memories of war – not just the bloodshed of the battlefield, but the horrors witnessed at the hand of Captain Constanta, who rescued him after a gruesome encounter with the King-Bats of Maximilian Von Klorr – the Black Max himself! Years later, Lt. Wilson sets on a journey to hunt down Constanta in his native Romania, and uncovers his origins among beasts and creatures of magic.

Collecting the work of Ian Edginton and Tiernen Trevallion, the second omnibus of Fiends of the Eastern Front follows Constanta’s bloody trail across history, and brings monstrous terror from the skies of wartime France to the streets of 1960s London.

Ian Edginton is a New York Times bestselling author and multiple Eisner Award nominee. He is currently writing Batman’66 meets The Avengers (Steed and Mrs Peel, not the other ones!) for DC Comics as well as Judge Dredd, Stickleback, Helium, Kingmaker and Brass Sun for 2000 AD. He lives and works in Birmingham, England.

Tiernen Trevallion has worked as an illustrator since he was convinced to leave school in the mid-eighties. His first comic commissions were for Inferno Magazine on the strip Tales from the Ten-Tailed Cat and Daemonifuge 3 with Simon Spurrier for Warhammer Monthly. For 2000AD he has worked on several series including Tharg’s Terror Tales, Tharg’s Future Shocks, Tales from the Black Museum and Judge Dredd. As well as working with Gordon Rennie on Absalom, he has also worked with him along with Emma Beeby on the Graphic novel Robbie Burns: Witch Hunter. Tiernen also works as an illustrator and concept artist. He also works on his own projects, some of which may or may not involve angry puffins.
