Leeds Library partners with Thought Bubble for Young People’s Comic Award, Submissions Invited

Leeds Library and Information Service and Thought Bubble (returning 1st – 6th November 2016) is inviting submissions for the Young People’s Comic Award, the only category of the British Comic Awards that will be presented this year as the others are on hiatus, but will resume in 2017.

This award is judged by young people and aims to celebrate the best in comics aimed at, and suitable for, a young audience.

Like all the other categories in the British Comic Awards this award is for comics in all forms, from graphic novels to web comics from UK creators only.

This award is open to all short-form and long-form stories and collections suitable for children. This category may include one-off stories, single issues of ongoing series, graphic novellas, short stories from anthologies, web comic strips, original graphic novels, collected editions, literary adaptations, longer anthologies or a substantial body of work available to read digitally.

Work eligible for this award must have been published between 1st September 2015 to 31st August 2016. Publishers and creators can send the organising team advance copies of work due to be released in August.

The winner of the Young People’s Comic Awards will be presented in a special ceremony in front of over a hundred of the young judges on Friday 4th November 2016 in coordination with Thought Bubble Comic Arts Festival.
