With London’s National Gallery now giving visitors a chance to compare two versions of Van Gogh’s iconic “Sunflowers“, there’s another unique interpretation in graphic novel form by Dutch illustrator Barbara Stok who explores the final years of the artist’s life in Vincent, a new biography from the independent UK publisher, SelfMadeHero.

During his short stay in Arles, Provence, Van Gogh had one of his most intense, creative periods that is the focus of Barbara Stok’s book. It is an evocative account of his life between 1888 -1890 crafted together by a selection of letters from his brother, Theo, as well as interpretations of some of his most famous paintings including Van Gogh’s Bedroom, Wheat Field with Crows, and Starry Night.

The book was commissioned in conjunction with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and marks the second of SelfMadeHero’s Art Masters series, which already includes Rembrandt, with the lives of with the lives of Salvador Dalí and Picasso to follow.

Vincent is published in UK on 6th March (rrp £12.99)
