Our thanks to John Kirk for some smashing pictures from the Canadian premiere of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy at the red carpet event at the TIFF Lightbox cultural centre in Toronto earlier this week.
Inside, the venue was decked out to resemble some of the elements of the Starfleet Academy film set, and speciality Star Trek themed cocktails and mocktails were served at the party after the event.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy introduces viewers to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, recorded in Toronto, is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment and has made its debut on subscription based streamer Paramount+ to the inevitable mix of reviews. Season Two is currently in production.
John Kirk is an interviewer and reviewer of Star Trek, Star Wars, comics and more who wrote for Star Trek Explorer and is currently writing for the website, Original-Cin. Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
