Last month, comics writer and author Cavan Scott described podcasts as the “… fanzines of the 21st Century”. The team behind a mainly Doctor Who-influenced podcast, Never Cruel or Cowardly, are running with that idea in style. The work of talented creators Leon Hewitt and Matt Badham, their latest audiozine, monsters and monstrosity in Doctor Who.

“We’re two mates putting together an audio fanzine for the 21st Century – or 2016, at least,” Matt – a regular contributor to the features pages of Judge Dredd Megazine – explains. “As such, don’t be too surprised if things are a little rough around the edges!”

At present Matt says he feels like they’re  producing an audiozine for about five people but its listener numbers over on Soundcloud are on the rise with NCC following the best traditions of  fanzines of yesteryear, some of which became highly polished publications.

This week’s episode spotlights several other ‘audiozines’, including Pex LivesOi! SpacemanDoctor Who: The Writers RoomLazy Doctor Who and Flight Through Entirety, which are all well worth checking out.

“We’re hoping to evolve and get better as time goes on,” says Matt, who welcomes feedback by or via Twitter,
