Comic Zine Art

Original fanzine artwork from publisher Alan Austin’s estate includes cover art of The Shadow by Bryan Talbot, Spider-Man and Spider Women by John Bolton, with Batman, Captain America and Silver Surfer pieces, too.

Alan Austin (1955-2017) was the first full-time comics dealer in the UK, starting ‘Heroes’ comic shop in an Islington basement in 1979. He produced the first Comic Book Price Guide for Great Britain, published fanzines including Fantasy Unlimited, Comics Unlimited, DC & Marvel Indexes and Golden Age. He was known to his many customers and friends as ‘The Guv’nor’, but he was much more than that – a Titan of British and US comic book fandom.
