During my career as a magazine editor and comic creator, I’ve known and worked with a large number of people based in Los Angeles – animators, actors, artists, writers, film and television production crew. Many of them have been impacted by the devastating wildfires still causing misery there; some have lost everything to the disaster. If you can help them, thank you.
There are a number of general fundraising efforts now active to support the creative communities impacted. Here are some specific links and campaigns…
• A Running List of Resources to Help Artists Impacted by LA Fires – From fundraisers to mutual aid drives and emergency grants, there are many ways to find support and help those affected by the blazes
• Cartoon Brew: How To Help Animation Industry Workers Who Have Been Displaced By The L.A. Wildfires
• The Star Trek Family, a fan organisation, is raising Disaster Relief Money for anyone that has been impacted by the Los Angeles fires (thanks to author Adeena Mignogna for the link)
• Pasadena Humane, a community-supported animal resource center providing compassion and care for all animals anticipate many animals who are in need of emergency medical care as the fires continue, in addition to those they are already caring for. Their greatest need right now is for monetary donations to help provide emergency resources to animals affected by the wildfires. If you are able to donate, please visit this link
Down the line, US publishers Mad Cave Studios are to publish a charity comic, LA Strong, to support those affected by the current LA Fires. Here are the details from the publisher…

“The comics community is known for coming together and supporting their own in times of crisis. This situation is no exception.” shared Mike Marts, Editor-in-Chief of Mad Cave Studios.
“LA STRONG: A Charity Comic for Victims of the Los Angeles Fires”’ will feature contributions by prominent artists and writers from the comic book community. Each piece will commemorate Los Angeles, celebrating the city’s spirit and resilience.
