If you’re a Dan Dare fan, then you may be interested in a Facebook group set up specifically by Andrew Dickson specifically to sell off an absolutely massive collection of memorabilia in coming days, which also includes copies of both the original and 1980s Eagle, and Look and Learn.
Be aware the collection is in the United States, so bear this in mind if you bid!
“Since we’re on drastically different time zones (three different continents!) there’s no way for me to play an active role in the bidding process,” Andrew, an electrical engineer, living just west of Portland, Oregon, who volunteered to help out with an estate sale of a couple from Britain who recently passed. Andrew is not getting any pay, part of the sale, commission for this sale.
“I intended this to be a week-long (or more?) open auction where everything is ‘active’ at all times, multiple posts/threads going on all at the same time,” he tells us.”Feel free to check in once a day or multiple times a day to bid, counter bid, etc. Kind of like eBay.
“I usually check Facebook just once a day in the late evening (US Pacific coast time), so I’ll be able to answer questions, write descriptions, take photos of items for you, etc.
“I trust you all to be kind and courteous. Once everything slows down, I’ll send out an email to announce when we’ll wrap up the bidding process.
“There are no minimum bids for anything, so please don’t be shy. (but you do need to cover shipping costs) Feel free to invite others that might be interested. In the end I hope that the dust will settle with reasonable prices for all the items. Since most everyone is from the UK, go ahead and bid in UK pounds. And as I mentioned before, I’d like everything gone in the end, gone to good homes where the items will be loved and appreciated.”
Again – be aware the collection is in the United States, so bear this in mind if you bid!
