Upcoming Heritage European Auction offers 2000AD, Starlord art by Carlos Ezquerra, pluys Moebius, Garry Leach and more
There’s plenty to savour and perhaps consider bidding on in the upcoming
Heritage European Auction, taking place in October.
Included in this event are artworks ranging from creators such as
Moebius and Milo Manara to and 2000AD work by Starlord Carlos Ezquerra, art by Marvelman Garry Leach, by Tank Girl Jamie Hewlett – and much more.
Some of the lots in the auction are still being processed, but there is some great art from
Neal Adams, Bryan Hitch and many more, too.
Moebius (Jean Giraud) Major Fatal, Le Garage Hermétique Original Art Splash Page 102 (Métal Hurlant, 1979). An almost full page depicting the Major Grubert in the legendary story of Le Garage Hermétique, Including, famously, the panel that was inspired by a George Tuska Iron Man page. Everything fits in this board, the freedom of Moebius’ stroke, his sense of composition, the balance between blacks and whites. Album published in 2006 by Les Humanoïdes Associés. Pre-published in 1979 in Métal Hurlant n°39. Indian ink on Bristol paper with an image area of 9″ x 11.5″. Small dirt in the first panel. Note the very rare signature of Moebius in the lower right corner

Carlos Ezquerra art for the Strontium Dog story “Death At Warp Factor 9″. Original Art Story Page 18 (IPC Magazines, 1978). This page 18 is probably one of the best-known early visuals from the strip featuring Johnny Alpha and Wulf Sternhammer in action, first time offered. Carlos Ezquerra art for the Judge Dredd story “Necropolis” published in 2000AD Prog 687. Original Art Double Splash Page 12 & 13 ( 2000AD, 1990). Necropolis was a major turning point in the long-running Democracy story arc. The story also reintroduced the character Judge McGruder, Judge Death and his fellow Dark Judges . It also introduced the “Sisters of Death,” saw the deaths of Judge Kraken (Dredd Clone-Brother), Judge Odell, and Chief Judge Silver. Set in the year 2112, the story concerns the tragedy that befalls Mega-City One following the resignation of Judge Dredd in “Tale of the Dead Man”. Don’t be fooled this DPS by the hand of legend Carlos Ezquerra is the ultimate DPS of Necropolis. Mixed media on Bristol paper with a large image area of 26.5″ x 18″. 2000AD stamp on the back. Jamie Hewlett Tank Girl The Odyssey #1 Original Art Cover (Vertigo,1995). Cult and historical cover #1 of our favourite dysfunctional punk anarchist, Tank Girl accompanied by Camp Koala. Genesis of the beginnings of Tank Girl out of the head of Jamie Hewlett future Gorillaz band’s graphic designer. This image is used several times, in 1995 by Manga Publishing LTD, in 2009 for the cover of the reprint The Odyssey by Titans Comics and directly after that in 2010 for for same adventure by Ankama Editions, a story until then unpublished in France. Ink on DC board with an image area of 9″ x 13″. Signed, dated. Some white out corrections, slight yellowing. In Very Good Condition
David Lloyd The Horrorist #2 Original Art Story Page 44 (DC/Vertigo, 1996). Spin-off of Vertigo’s popular Hellblazer series, The Horrorist stars John Constantine and Angel a “Horrorist,” a person who redistributes pain by exposing people to the suffering of others. David Lloyd at his best for a haunting page of this elusive title never offered until now. Mixed media on Bristol paper with an image area of 11″ x 17″. The bubbles are affixed to a transparent acetate sheet. In Excellent Condition
Philippe Druillet – Visage Guerrier Bleu Original Art Illustration (2010). Directly inspired by Lone Sloane’s universe, the artist in full maturity of his art, reveals us an intriguing face of a star warrior. Mixed media on paper with an image area of 22.5″ x 30″. Signed, dated and stamp of the artist. Framed. In Excellent condition.
Tanino Liberatore – RanXerox, Lubna, Diabolik & Eva Kant Original Art Illustration (2012). Unique piece by its composition and its characters. The brilliant Liberatore plunges us into the world of the Italian Pop Culture comics by representing us a painting of RanXerox, his junkie friend Lubna about to be stolen by the legendary Diabolik and his companion Eva Kant, what more can you ask for? Vink Les Voyages de He Pao L’Ombre Du Gingko Original Art Cover #2 (Dargaud, 2002). Fabulous cover for the second episode of He Pao’s Voyages, which follows the Saga of the Mad Monk. ‘L’Ombre Du Ginkgo’ takes us to a Chinese village devastated by rising waters. Fresco in medieval China, Vink develops a new facet of his talent. Watercolor on Bristol paper with an area of 12″ x 16.5″. Signed, dated. In Excellent Condition.

Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as
Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
