East Bristol Auctions will be selling a number of Modesty Blaise strips on Saturday 21st October, to raise funds for a dedicated local charity.

Anna Gow, a fund-raiser for St. Peter’s Hospice, Bristol, rcently donated the Hospice a set of six original Modesty Blaise London Evening Standard strips that had  belonged to the late Paul Woods, a longtime fan of the series.

He’d chosen them to represent favourite aspects of the strip characters, and to represent the work of all five artists who drewpublished episodes of Peter O’Donnell’s much-loved adventure strip over the years – Jim Holdaway, Spanish artist Enrique Badía Romero, John M. Burns, Patrick Wright and Neville Colvin.

They will be going up for auction on Saturday 21st October, as part of East Bristol Auctions latest Games, Trains & Automobiles sale, which also includes a Corgi Man from U.N.C.L.E. car, a The Saint car, a copy of the Escape from Colditz game, Robotech action figures and much more.

All of their items can be bid for on online via the-saleroom.com and the catalogue for the relevant sale is also available to view on the auction house site.

“The Hospice provided fantastic care and support to Paul during his last year,” says  Anna, who has reached out to numerous Modesty Blaise fan groups to promote the auction “and I would naturally like the panels to fetch a good price for the Hospice funds.

“But equally importantly, I really want those panels to go to someone who enjoys and admires the work of Peter O’Donell as much as Paul did.”
