Lancaster Comics Day – Sunday 5th June 2016

Lancaster Comics Day 2016 Masthead

The second Lancaster Comics Day, organised by The Friends of Lancaster Library, will take place on Sunday 5th June 2016, from 11.00 am until 6.00pm.

Lew Stringer

Along with comic workshops and stalls there will be a panel on British humour comics headed up by veteran comics artist and writer Lew Stringer (whose credits include TOXIC, Beano, VIZ and Doctor Who Magazine), joined by Funny Monsters creator and publisher Joe Matthews and Sparky and Doctor Who? writer Tim Quinn, one of our popular guests in 2015 who regaled us with stories of how he broke into comics after being a circus clown.

Our adventure and superhero comics panel will feature comics writer Andy Diggle, writer Alex Paknadel, artist Sean Phillips and independent comics creator Tom Ward.

With Lancaster awash with SF and Fantasy authors, we’re also pleased to announce a panel featuring novelists AS Chambers, JS Collyer, Eddie Robson and Games creator Ken Walton.

Also on the line-up will be Doctor Who and Judge Dredd Megazine comic artist and book cover illustrator Adrian Salmon.

Blackpool-based Adrian Salmon began his career painting illustrations for magazines before drawing his first comic strip “Judge Karyn” for Judge Dredd Megazine, written by Lancaster Comics Day co-organiser John Freeman. Following this, he drew “Cybermen” for Doctor Who Magazine, and has worked with the magazine for the last twenty years.

He dipped his toes into the creator-owned market with writer Robert Tinnell on THE FACELESS: A Terry Sharp Story, starring occult fighter and film director Terry Sharp, which was published by Image Comics. He did the artwork for The Schizoid Earth and Mutually Assured Domination for Candy Jar Books in 2015, and has more covers lined up for later in 2016, including Moon Blink, which was released in April 2016.

Graham Pearce will be back with his popular drawing challenges for young comics fans, and we have other plans in the works to entertain you.

Plus, we are promised the return of Comic Cake from Katie White and the popular Games Room (more details on games that will feature at a later date).

All guests appear subject to work commitments. For the latest information visit www.lancastercomicsday.uk
