2000AD New York Comic Con plans include sale Steve Dillon Memorial Charity Sketchbook

Steve Dillon Memorial Sketchbook

Jock (Batman, The Losers), Lee Garbett (Loki), Rob Williams (Suicide Squad), Alex De Campi (DREDD, Mayday) and Arthur Wyatt (DREDD) head 2000AD’s creator line-up at New York Comic Con next week: and a special Steve Dillon Memorial Sketchbook will be on sale in aid of the Hero Initiative on their stand.

The legendary British comic hits one of the biggest conventions in the US and Booth 2244 will be packed with Thrill-power, from the latest graphic novel collections to merchandise, including pin badges and prints by Vice Press.

The full line-up of signings showcases some of the best art and writing talent to come out of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic, including Jock – the visionary artist behind the look of the 2012 DREDD movie – and the new movie- tie-in writing partnership of Arthur Wyatt and Alex De Campi.

Plus, conventioneers will get the chance to roam the poisoned wastelands of Nu Earth by playing the demo of the hotly-anticipated Rogue Trooper Redux. Launching 17th October, Rogue Trooper Redux allows players to become one of 2000AD’s most enduringly popular characters – Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons’ blue-skinned, genetically-modified super-soldier.

And to celebrate 40 years of the toughest lawman of the future, a special panel on the Saturday will look at the history and politics of Judge Dredd with special guests Rob Williams, Ulises Farinas (Judge Dredd: Blessed Earth), Kelly Kanayama (Women Write About Comics), Rosie Knight (Nerdist), Arthur Wyatt and Alex de Campi.

This year’s New York Comic Con will also pay tribute to creator Steve Dillon, who died last year aged just 54, with the debut of the Steve Dillon Memorial Charity Sketchbook, on sale at the 2000AD stand, featuring contributions from a number of Dillon’s friends, contemporaries and fans.

Behind a cover from New Mutants and Elektra: Assassin artist Bill Sienkiewicz, the 32-page release features all-new artwork from Preacher cover artist Glenn Fabry, Hellboy‘s Duncan Fegredo, Watchmen‘s John Higgins and many more, with an introduction from Dillon’s friend and Preacher co-creator Garth Ennis.

All proceeds from sales of the sketchbook – limited to a 2,000-print run available at New York Comic Con and the UK’s MCM London convention on 27th – 29th October will be donated to the Hero Initiative, Dillon’s favourite charity, which helps comic creators in financial need.

Those purchasing the sketchbook at NYCC will also receive special prints of John Constantine from Hellblazer by Sean Phillips and Jeff Lemire, as well as one of Dogwelder, co-created by Dillon, by Russ Braun.

The full list of artists contributing is: Bill Sienkiewicz, Duncan Fegredo, Cliff Chiang, Jill Thompson, Rafael Albuquerque, Chris Weston, Philip Bond, Kev Walker, John Higgins, Declan Shalvey, Goran Parlov, Glenn Fabry, Liam Sharp, John McCrea, PJ Holden, Jerry Paris, Al Davison, Laurence Campbell, Steve Yeowell, Mike Collins, Kev Hopgood, Dom Reardon, Keith Burns, Giulia Brusco, Doug Braithwaite, Niko Henrichon, Richard Case, Will Simpson, Clint Langley, Dave Kendall, Tula Lotay, Sean Phillips, Jeff Lemire, and Russ Braun.

It promises to be another action-packed week at New York Comic Con – make sure you get your dose of 2000AD Thrill-power!
