A softback collection of Robin of Sherwood: The Complete Look-In Comics is in the works, after the sellout success of the hardback edition earlier this year.
The softback edition from Spiteful Puppet, in partnership with 2000AD publisher Rebellion and Chinbeard Books, is available to preorder now, a limited edition that will be published in January.
Richard Carpenter’s Robin of Sherwood is often considered the finest version of the Robin Hood legend, a lavish and hugely popular television series that ran from 1984 to 1986, starring Michael Praed, followed by Jason Connery. It was turned into an accompanying comic strip by the bestselling young people’s magazine Look-In, Written by Angus Allan, with art by Mike Noble, Arthur Ranson and Phil Gascoine.

Its release comes as the TV drama that inspired the Look-in strip celebrates its fortieth anniversary, and ahead of the release of an original Robin of Sherwood: The Hooded Men graphic novel, out next April, written by John Semper with art by Allan Jefferson.
“Aside from the brand-new graphic novel that’s already been announced, that is currently being illustrated (and will be sent out in the anniversary month of April), our second surprise, of a few to come,” tease Chinbeard Books, “is that we’ve been able to secure a limited run of a softback release for the award-winning Robin of Sherwood: The Complete Look-In Comics.
“It even has a new cover by restoration expert and graphic designer, Robert Hammond. It’s taken a lot of negotiating to do this!”
“Robin of Sherwood: The Complete Look-In Comics will be delivered in Janaury of 2024, to beat the after-Christmas blues, but this really is a short run of a publication. Don’t delay in pre-ordering! We listened to all those voices who missed out on the hardback, so this is for you!”
