Awesome Comics Podcast Catch-Up – Comic Cons, Horror Comics and More!

Oh dear! I’ve gotten behind on my Awesome Comics Podcast listening, and they’ve been doing some great stuff, too! Here’s a round up of the latest feisty  thrills from Dan Butcher, Tony Esmond and Vince Hunt. I’d better hide under in this old atomic bunker before they realise…

Episode 68 – The State of the Modern Comic Convention

Awesome Comics Podcast Episode 68

A new era of the Awesome Pod begins, and this edition features a discussion about the world of modern comic book conventions. With big shows pulling in mega numbers, smaller shows being cancelled and venues being changed (controversially for some) there’s plenty of discussion to be had. Listener opinions get read out, poll results are announced and it’s the first week of a 1980s action movie trivia quiz Action Dan!

“It’s a bold new direction for the same old waffle about the world of comics!” enthuse the team.

Episode 69 – The Role of Sex in Comics!

Awesome Comics Podcast Episode 69 - The Role of Sex in Comics!Turn the lights down low and put on some Kenny G, because the ACP team are talking about Sex. In comics of course, and despite everyone thinking that it’s going to be immature and crude, the gang tackle various forms of sex in sequential storytelling. There’s talk of books that have had legal challenges due to sexual content, Robert Crumb, sexualised variant covers, results of this weeks listener polls, loads more and also the first listener question gets put in for our 80s action movie quiz ‘Action Dan’.

Also, Steve Tillotson, creator of the book Untitled Ape – An Epic Adventure talks about  his brilliant new book, how it came to be and where you can get it.

Episode 70 – ARGH! Horror Comics!

Awesome Comics Podcast Episode 70 - ARGH! Horror Comics!

It’s that time of year when the Awesome Pod ghouls talk about the world of horror comics. Yes, it’s the second ACP Hallowe’en Special! Vince and Dan talk terror and horror storytelling pros and cons, and as Tony couldn’t make it this week, Shaun Dobie (Descending Outlands) steps in and the trio discuss scary books, the classic horror monsters, when horror goes too far and also spins yet more chat based on this weeks spooktacular listener polls. It’s classic comics chat with an added twist and plenty of laughs. There’s also another Action Dan question, talk of ‘genre’ books and Tony is missed (but still makes an appearance… kind of).
