A new Tammy & Jinty Special is out this summer with a beautiful cover by top magazine and comic illustrator, Marguerite Sauvage, featuring an all-new Cat Girl, rebooting a classic character from the weekly girls comics Sally and Tammy.

Women Write About Comics got an exclusive reveal of the Special cover by Montreal-based Marguerite Sauvage, who has worked for various clients in many fields as a freelance illustrator. Her credits include magazines such as as Elle and Flaunt) advertising (Publicis, Euro RSCG, Young and Rubican) and publishing (Penguin Books, Hachette).
More recently, she’s started working in parallel for entertainment in concept design (animation and video games), and in sequential art and cover art for comic publishers (DC, Marvel, Image).
Out in July, the 48-page Tammy & Jinty Special will contain two brand-new stories, including a reboot of the classic character Cat Girl, a story by writer and cartoonist Ramsey Hassan with art by Elkys Nova, whose credits include Roy of the Rovers.
As her Private Investigator father tries to solve the mystery of a thief targeting the city’s most wealthy, Cathy Carter attends the costume party of a popular YouTuber – and unwitting next victim.
Events lead her to become the new Cat Girl, an updating of a character who debuted in the first issue of Sally comic in 1969, drawn by Giorgio Giorgetti, and whose adventures, as we previously noted, continued into Tammy when the two weekly girls titles merged.
The original Cat Girl featured in the The Vigilant: Legacy last year – as part of the original Vigilant team.
The new Special also features a mystery story, set in a boarding school written by Rachael Smith (Doctor Who, House Party, The Rabbit), with art by Yishan Li (Paradox Girl, Frenemies and more).
Orphaned siblings Tabatha (‘Tabby’) and Richard live at a boarding school in Sussex, where Tabby has started to notice odd things about her brother. Strange things happen whenever he gets excited or upset, things like items going flying or accidents occurring.
Tabby is determined to find out more about her brother’s powers…
