The fifth International Graphic Novel and Comics Conference will take places between Friday 19th – 20th July 2014 at the Conference Centre in the British Library in London.
Now in its fifth year, this conference brings together comic and graphic novel experts from across the world and will open on Friday with keynote speeches by Paul Gravett (Escape, Comica) and Pascal Lefèvre (LUCA School of Arts, Campus Saint-Lukas, Brussels, Belgium).
A limited number of free places will be available for Friday, and three-day, delegates to attend the evening public event featuring Steve Bell and Posy Simmonds.
Saturday will include include a keynote lecture by Scott Bukatman of Stanford University and author Mike Carey (The Unwritten, The Girl with all the Gifts) and writer David Baillie (2000AD, Portal 666) together in conversation.
Understanding the comics form, designing comics and digital comics will all be topis of discussion on Sunday.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
