Major Enki Bilal retrospective exhibition extended until January 2021

The Fondation Helene et Edouard Leclerc Landerneau art centre in France is currently hosting a major Enki Bilal retrospective – and has made its guide to the event free to view online.

The opening had to be postponed till July, so the exhibition is extended till January 4th 2021.

Enki Bilal is a French comic book creator, comics artist and film director, whose work is at the crossroads of arts, cultures, times, worlds and societies, real or fictional – themes explored in this major exhibition.

Drawings, paintings, films, writings are presented, from Enki’s beginnings in comics from the 1970s through to his most recent works. The exhibition also includes some unpublished works, produced for Landerneau, like the series he is preparing echoing the famous Picasso painting, Guernica.

“Mastering the most widely used artistic media, from cinema to comics, Enki Bilal has largely participated in the political awakening of a generation, which was able to cross the walls of the Cold War and denounce the excesses of a predatory capitalism on our environment,” enthuses Michel-Edouard Leclerc.

“He asks us today about the future of a humanity which would have entrusted feelings and freedoms to robots and algorithms. “

In an effort to allow everyone to freely discover the exhibition in difficult timed, the FHEL has provided audiences with an online visitor’s guide to the exhibition, complementing the physical guide only available through the venue’s shop.
