To help launch the brand new House of Illustration gallery in London’s Kings Cross, the OFF LIFE team – makers of the free street comic distributed in London and Bristol – are holding a free #QuickDraw event in April.
“Every Thursday on Twitter we run #QuickDraw,” OFF LIFE editor Daniel Humphry explains, “an illustration challenge where themes are set and artists given one hour to draw their interpretations.
“But who wants to spend their life on Twitter? Just over a year ago we brought a live version of #QuickDraw to the Design Museum… and now we return to London for a second outing!
So – on Thursday 24th April, head to the new House of Illustration for 8.00pm at 2 Granary Square, King’s Cross for a free event and draw shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the UK’s best comic artists in rounds of fast-paced illustration. Confirmed creators so far include Warwick Johnson-Cadwell, Joe List, Lizz Lunney and many more.
“We set the themes,” says Daniel “You draw them!
“The best pieces will be tweeted out to the world, hung in an exhibition space and even projected on screens across the venue.
“This being the 21st Century, we’ll still be using Twitter to allow artists across the globe to join in. Simply follow the themes as they are tweeted and respond with your artwork to the #QuickDraw hashtag for the chance to have your work projected live at the event.”
