Comics author Cavan Scott (Doctor Who, Vikings) has revealed some details about DALEK, an untold history of the Doctor’s greatest foes, due for release from BBC Books later this year, co-written with George Mann and Justin Richards.
“The book is presented as a historical document written at some point in the distant future,” he says, “and features pages and pages of unseen art from the galaxy’s top galleries and museums, including the legendary Braxiatel Collection.”
The new book, out in October, with a foreword by Steven Moffat, includes new stories and comics strips by Cavan, George, Terrance Dicks, Eric Saward, Paul Magrs, Ian Sharman, Mike Tucker, Mark Wright and Mike Collins (coloured by Kris Carter), plus concept art, cutaways and diagrams, with behind-the-scenes features by David J Howe and Nicholas Briggs. With a line up like that, as you can imagine Cavan is pretty excited about the book.
“As a long-time Dalek nut, this has been a dream project,” he enthuses.
“We’ve pulled together everything we know about the Daleks from Doctor Who on TV, plus lashings of Dalek lore from spin-off annuals, books, audios, comics and even 1960s collectible cards.”
Cavan Scott is a number one best-selling author and comic writer for both adults and children who should need no introduction to downthetubes readers.
As well as working on new Sherlock Holes novels, he’s written for a large number of high-profile series including Doctor Who, Star Wars, Vikings, Penguins of Madagascar, Judge Dredd, Blake’s 7 and Warhammer 40,000.
Earlier this month, Big Finish released The Lost Flame, the final adventure in a series of audio books he created with George Mann.“Working on this mini-series of audiobook originals has been a joy,” he says.
